So the linocut blocks for this print of Blickling Hall in Norfolk UK are finally carved and ready to test print. How exciting! Test printing a #multiblockprint is always touched with a bit of nerves and much anticipation. Nerves in case the blocks don't align despite the careful registration process and all round anticipation and excitement about how the print will actually look.
From the outset I had two separate colour-ways planned for this print. The first in shades of grey and black as per the #illustration in the preceding blog and a second set of colours more in line with the actual colour of the building.
The blocks
Here are the four carved blocks:

The main colour for the house bays, turrets and chimneys. In this colour way the block is printed grey, In the second colour way the bays and chimneys are printed a #jacobean brick red, the turrets will be a grey green.

The second block adds the shadow, the roof and the windows

This top block has all the details for the house

The sky block. This is an unusual addition for me as I generally aim for three blocks not four, however this make for an optional sky. So I can print the building either with or without the sky.
Inking up the blocks
First, building and turrets:

Shadows, windows and Roof:

I love to see the print begin to appear
Next up the top block

Finally the sky block

And the grey tone colour way

Now, I have some thoughts about the grey tone building looking a bit institutional so I think I'll reprint this version in shades of translucent blue. That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this blog.
